Who is the target audience?
My target audiences are current students participating in NWTC 2023 Portfolio Showcase, future students showing interest in the Photography, Web Development, Graphic Design, or Digital Media programs and employers looking to hire graduates. My website design begins by promoting the NWTC 2023 Portfolio Showcase slated for May 4th. It then draws the user in by providing information on what each of the programs offer, the employment potentials, and program outcomes. This information is available on the program pages along with visual examples portraying potential job opportunities. My archive allows users to view the work of previous students for inspiration and a contact page to request further information and provide directions to the event.
What is the message?
The message is that there are numerous employment opportunities for students wanting to pursue a program in digital arts at NWTC. From a potential employers perspective, it showcases the talent of current students and exposes that talent in a gallery format.
What is the goal?
The goal is to draw current and future students along with potential employers to the portfolio showcase event via a visually appealing, ease of use platform. The use of user interface, user experience, A11 standards and functionality creates a pleasant experience for the user. Photos were carefully selected and sized. Color palettes were chosen and a well organized layout was created using cards and grids.
What are the CTAs (Call(s) To Action)?
My CTAs were implemented through the use of animated hovering in the navigation menu, links to websites, additional reading material, photo galleries and a submittable contact form.
Design Summary
For the basis of my layout, I used a mixture of 12 column grid layout, image cards, and flexbox; all of which give my pages flexibility for use on mobile and desktop media. The rich shades of colors chosen add a formal look, as the event is being sponsored by the College of Business. The topography I chose is used with a similar purpose in mind, providing information to users in an elegant and visually appealing manner, while the photos added a layer of cohesiveness to the website.
